Why we built this

We're building Qeyda because we needed it ourselves.

We've spent years building software, and the last two talking to Egyptian business owners about how their books actually get done. The story didn't change much from one to the next: receipts piling up in drawers, statements reconciled at 11pm, year-ends as three-week sprints, loan applications stalling because the books couldn't answer what the bank asked.

It wasn't that anyone was disorganized. The tools weren't built for the job. The local options were stuck on yesterday's infrastructure; the imported defaults didn't speak the market's language. Arabic invoices, ETA, governorate codes, 14% VAT, half-supported at best, faked at year-end at worst.
